Yamaha is all set to launch its first electric scooter (the Yamaha Neo Electric Scooter) in India. It is expected to be priced at Rs 2.50 lakh ex-showroom.

Direct-drive, center-mounted electric motor

For maximum performance, the NEO’s are equipped with the latest generation Yamaha Integrated Power Unit (YIPU), an air-cooled brushless electric motor located inside the rear wheel hub. This compact direct-drive design eliminates the need for gears or belts and ensures smooth motion, strong acceleration, and extremely quiet operation.

Removable Yamaha lithium-ion battery

The NEO’s single high-density 50.4V/19.2Ah lithium-ion battery gives a range of 37km*, and the range can be extended by purchasing an optional second battery. Located under the double seat for easy access, the 8 kg battery is designed to maintain high performance for up to 1000 cycles/10,000 km and can be charged when batteries are installed on the scooter or removed. (Tested in WMTC Class 1 in STD mode, fully charged battery at 25°C.)

Selectable ride modes

NEOs are equipped with two selectable riding modes tailored to different conditions and personal preferences. STD mode is designed for regular road use and offers higher power output, while ECO mode reduces battery usage and is suitable for longer journeys—up to 38.5 km*—and you can easily switch between modes as you ride. (Yamaha research. (This range varies based on location, riding style, and battery degradation.)

Very quiet running

NEOs offer you many advantages, including low running costs, ease of use, and the ability to access the growing number of ultra-low and zero-emission zones in Europe’s cities. It’s one of the quietest ways to travel, and in official tests, this new Yamaha electric scooter emits just 55 dB from a distance of seven meters, compared to 71 dB for its 50-cc combustion equivalent.

Simple, compact, and universal styling

Inspired by the design language of the original Combustion NEO, the bodywork features smooth, rounded shapes, giving the NEO a smart, sporty, and unique look with universal appeal. Clean lines and minimal front and rear overhang emphasize the compact body of this zero-emission scooter, and the spacious footboard area has rubber moldings to help protect against minor knocks and scratches.

Connectivity through the Yamaha MyRide app

It’s easy to stay connected while you ride the NEOs by downloading Yamaha’s MyRide app to your smartphone and pairing it with the scooter. The attached LCD instruments display notifications of incoming calls and messages from your smartphone, and this free app lets you view scooter information, share pictures, and share ride information with other MyRiders on your smartphone.

Jet helmet under-seat

storage A battery-mounted under-seat compartment has 27 liters of storage space that can accommodate a jet helmet, shoes, and gym gear. If you choose to fit a second optional battery, there will still be enough room to carry a rainsuit or other personal items.
